Got a quick money saving DIY for you today. I love this recipe for a Hand Renewal Scrub. They sell these scrubs at nice store like Bath and Body Works for $12.99 but did you know you can make your own for less than $2.00 bucks?! Yeah! I use this for scrubbing my hands clean after gardening and for my own do it yourself manicures and pedicures at home.
· Sugar - about 2 cups
· 1 bottle of Dawn hand Renewal Dish soap
· 1 tight lid container
The Sugar was on sale for .99 cents for 4 lbs. I often find this price you just have to look at your sale ads each week it goes down to that price every 8 weeks or so.
The Dawn Hand Renewal Dish Soap goes on sale for .99 cents every other week or so at either Walgreens and CVS when its gets to that price I go in with a coupon and by a few to have on hand. Cost with coupon is 74 cents.
I already had a container so it cost nothing.
Total Cost: $1.73
Measure 2 cups sugar in container and then slowly mix in the hand soap while stirring. As it incorporates the consistency, it will resemble the finished product of a hand scrub. You might not use all the dish soap which is okay. I usually have about 1/4 of the bottle remaining.
This scrub is awesome and leaves your hands super smooth. You could add essential oils to it if you prefer. This would make an awesome gift to give someone and you could really have fun with the packaging.

As an experienced shopper I know that as soon as July 4th is over, that's when all the sales start happening. The trick is that you have to start early and only buy the rock bottom loss leaders that get you in the door in the hopes you will buy everything on your list and buy the other stuff at full price.
Start checking your sales ads this Sunday ... here are some hot items that I found this week Costco had back packs $18.99, great quality and a fair / low price. They also had ones that are $39.99 but they were more for the college student and too heavy and bulky for a locker. They had great color selection to choose from but I wouldn't wait too long.
Aldis had some great items and especially for the college students. They also had some great closet organizing selection for just $4.99 each. Check out their ad this week online at www.aldi.us.
I was at Dollar Tree and they had a ton of stuff a pack of pens for 8 for $1.00, Crayons Playskool brand 36 pack for $1.00. Dollar Tree had tons of cute plastic bins in all sizes for organizing and large ones too.
If you don't have any kids at home maybe think that this is a great time to get organized for your office and home. It’s a great time to pick up those supplies for Financial binder and get your bills in order.
Let’s be real ladies. It’s super easy to get caught up in the whole back to school frenzy especially when you take the kids shopping with you. Try to get the majority of the stuff on your list without the kids and shop for the rock bottom prices at Office Max and Staples sales like 10 cents for glue. Take the kids when they want to pick out there favorite character folder and let them pick that out. This strategy alone can save big bucks at the end of the day. On July 24th Friday Night, join me for Frugalista Ladies Night Out and learn how to be a Back to School Frugalista!.

Recently I was at friend’s house helping her with an organizing project for her house. She remarked that every time she sees me I have a different purse that I sport around in. I said you are exactly right I do have some super cute purses and really nice high-end brand names like Steve Madden, Banana Republic, Nine West, Coach (real), Relic, Fossil, Gap, Le Sport Sac and Bagalini. I am able to have some nice bags and a great selection to choose from ... because I buy them second hand at Savers and My Best Friends Closet store in Algonquin, IL. I find great purses and even brief cases at these stores. Recently, I bought a gorgeous leather Steve Madden purse for $9.99. In fact most of my purses are under 10 bucks. It is buyer beware so make sure when you go to Savers, you look over the purses for any rips or distressed that you wouldn't want. At My Best Friends Closet, they do all that fine detailed looking for you. Their quality and selection are outstanding and the average purse / handbag is $15.00. They do have a designer section for Coach, Luis Vuitton, Mark Jacobs which is awesome and at second hand prices, don't hurt your wallet. That is how this Frugalistas stays on a budget and still can look Fabulous! And when I get bored, because I am fickle like that, I simply can donate it back to Savers and get a $3.00 off Coupon towards my next purchase. If you have any High End Designer Purses consider consigning them to My Best Friends Closet and that way you can make some money. Check out some of my purses. The best part about being a Fabulous Frugalista is that my wallet stays full!

Well its been six months since we started our Savings Jars in January .....how are you all doing with that ? I am on week 24 for the year which means I put $24 bucks in this week....which means I have $300 bucks saved up . I also have been dumping my extra change in the jar . I am super excited and I am staying motivated because I keep the Jar in my office where I see it everyday. There is always the temptation to take money out of the jar but I try to remind myself that at the end of the year I will have $1,378.00 I haven't designated a specific use for this money yet ..vacation fund, furniture fund ,extra savings but I am sure as the year rolls on something will happen and I will have put a name on those dollars. For right now I am feeling great with how far I have come with the Savings Jar. Let me know how you are all doing with your savings jars.
