It’s Good Bye to school days and Hello to Summer Fun!
Here is a quick tip that will help come this fall when you get ready to head back to school. When you unpack your kids back pack and unload the school supplies, you can organize them and get them ready for next year. Of course there will be the gross stuff that doesn't survive.
Often the school dist. post on their website a supply list for all the grades which makes this super easy and a money saver to plan ahead. After I get done cleaning the back pack, if it survives to tell you the truth, it often looks like it was dragged behind a semi-truck when the school year is through. But I will work hard on making it brand new again with some baby wipes and sprinkling baking soda in it to deodorize it. After that's done I get packed for the following school year.
Whatever I need to get for the next year that I don't already have I write a list and keep it in my wallet. Then when all the school supplies go on Sale which is right after the 4th of July. Sales will hit about July 10th you will see a sprinkling of them in the Sunday Ads for Walgreens, Target, Walmart, Office Max and Staples.
But here is the tricky part. Not everything you need will be on sale at the same time. You might be enticed to go for the sale items like 1 cent folders and then you will stay to buy the rest of the things on the list and at much higher prices.
So Frugalistas...what’s our strategy? Make a list to have with you and when you are out doing your regular weekly errands/grocery shopping to the stores, pick up only the items you need that are on the list and only at the rock bottom prices. You will save money and you won't be stressed out come August 20th when you end up buying school supplies at the last minute at FULL Price!
Keep it Frugal!
