Happy March Frugalistas! Today I thought I would share with you My Top Money Saving Kitchen Helpers these 5 products cost under $15.00 dollars and are easy to find at your local Walmart. These products will save hundreds per year. Here is the list:
Why are these my top money saving kitchen helpers? Let’s start with paper towels. I love paper towels and I could always find a great deal on them using coupons which seemed to justify my dependence on them. I would never pay more than .43 cents per roll and the average sale price per roll is $1.24. I started tracking how much I was using and it seemed to me like I was using too much. I tried using the Blue Handi wipes that say you can use them up to 20 times each but they didn't clean well at all and certainly didn't absorb liquids. Major Fail! I looked up on Pinterest different ways to make your own or buy them on etsy....another major fail! Then on day as I was shopping at Walmart in the kitchen towel aisle I found these ...Bar Mop Dishcloths. It made sense you don't see Bars/bartenders moping the counters with paper towels…that would be insane. So I thought what the heck with it doesn't work I can go back to my paper towel addiction. Well, it worked! The best thing is I never run out of them since I simply wash them and I am back in business. I keep them handy on my counter in a basket. I still have paper towels but I have cut down significantly. Here is the money savings part ...stay with me now as I am doing some Math!
The Average Sale price on an 8 pack of Viva Towels is $9.99 if you use 1 roll per week times 52 weeks in a year that's $64.93 per year at only one roll a week. There are cheaper prices on 8 packs - Walgreens has them on sale at $3.49 with in store coupon which makes it $22.36 per year.
Buying two packs of bar mop towels is $8.92... BIG savings ...and they are reusable year after year. I can't tell you how much I love them! I often give them as gifts to friends who buy a new house and I would consider them one of my money saving secret weapons!
